Job Summary:
As an Activities Coordinator at The Garth Nursing Home, you will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and implementing a variety of activities that cater to the physical, emotional, and social well-being of our residents. The ideal candidate is creative, compassionate, and passionate about creating an enjoyable and stimulating environment for elderly individuals in a nursing home setting.
Key Responsibilities:
Activity Planning:
- Develop and implement a diverse range of activities to suit the interests and abilities of residents.
- Plan both individual and group activities, ensuring inclusivity.
Engagement and Interaction:
- Foster positive and meaningful interactions between residents, staff, and volunteers.
- Encourage socialisation and community involvement.
Therapeutic Activities:
- Coordinate therapeutic activities such as art therapy, music therapy, and reminiscence sessions.
- Collaborate with external professionals to enhance residents’ well-being.
Event Organisation:
- Plan and organise special events, celebrations, and outings for residents.
- Liaise with external providers for entertainment or specialised activities.
Documentation:
- Maintain accurate records of residents’ participation in activities.
- Document the impact and outcomes of various activities on residents’ well-being.
Communication:
- Effectively communicate activity schedules to residents, families, and staff.
- Collaborate with the care team to understand residents’ individual needs and preferences.
Resource Management:
- Manage activity-related resources, including supplies and equipment.
Qualifications:
- Relevant qualification in activities coordination, therapeutic recreation, or a related field.
- Proven experience in planning and implementing activities for seniors, preferably in a nursing home setting.
- Excellent organisational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
Education and Experience:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar role.
- Certification in activities coordination or a related field is desirable.
