Overview
The University of Sheffield is embarking on an ambitious journey to open a new MPharm degree from October 2025. Based in the School of Allied Health Professions, Nursing and Midwifery you will join a vibrant community of researchers and teachers, within the School and across the Faculty of Health, building the programme and the discipline of Pharmacy.
You will lead the development of the prescribing content within the integrated MPharm and contribute to teaching across the Pharmacy Practice area and other School programmes.
Candidates for this post should demonstrate their experience in undergraduate teaching and their national and international profile in Pharmacy Education. A commitment to fresh thinking, flexibility and adaptability in approach are essential to this role.

Main duties and responsibilities
- Working with the Head of Pharmacy, Head of Pharmacy Practice and Pharmacy Leadership team, lead on the development and delivery of Prescribing within the MPharm programme ensuring that it is accessible, inclusive and contributes to the University’s Teaching and Learning Strategy.
- Support the design and delivery of prescribing activities within other undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in the School of Allied Health Professions, Nursing and Midwifery.
- Improve and enhance the student experience and student outcomes through programme delivery based on a detailed understanding of student needs and professional requirements.
- Behave ethically in all aspects of your role and act as a role-model for MPharm students
- Undertake scholarship activities in Pharmacy Education, appropriate to the role, that are influential on a national / international stage.
- Engage in recruitment and outreach activities which may include activities outside standard working hours, for example Open Days.
- Lead in core administrative areas to support the delivery of the MPharm programme
- Represent the institution and develop links with external stakeholders (within and outside the profession) to foster collaboration, at a regional and national level
- Provide effective line management where required
- Work according to University quality assurance processes and other regulatory frameworks including Professional Regulatory bodies e.g. GPhC
Actively contribute to the collective interests and values of the University through individual action and inclusive, collaborative working

Essential criteria
- Registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council (assessed at application)
- Proven teaching ability at the the undergraduate level in Pharmacy Practice (assessed at application and interview)
- Experience of building, developing, motivating and communicating with a team of staff (assessed at application and interview).
- Experience of developing strong working relationships with partners within and external to Higher Education (assessed at application and interview)
- Experience of delivering a high quality teaching and learning experience on undergraduate programmes (assessed at application and interview)
- Experience of significant contribution to the design (or re-design), development and coordination of a Pharmacy programme of study (assessed at application and interview)
- Experience of designing professional education through innovative approaches e.g. IPL, placements' (assessed at application and interview)
- Evidence of a national and/or international profile in Pharmacy education research (assessed at application and interview)
- Ability to develop creative approaches to problem solving (assessed at application and interview)
- Experience of working independently on project activities (assessed at application and interview)
- Teaching Qualification e.g FHEA, PGCert Higher Education (assessed at application)
